Free Baby Booties Crochet Pattern in DK 8ply – Rollin’ Baby Booties

You can make these booties in two colours or just one. They are very easy and quick to make and are ideal for a last minute gift idea. When wearing the booties you can either roll them down or keep them up like a high top. For something a little different use a ribbon as the lace. I hope you enjoy!

Materials
I used Cleckheaton Country yarn. The gauge on the yarn packet reads 22.0 sts to 30.0 rows = 4 inches in stocking stitch (knitting).
You can use any alternative 8ply or DK yarn.

Yardage
I used a total of 30grams (58 metres/63 yards in total)

Two Colours
Approximately 20grams of Main Colour (MC) (39 metres/43 yards)
Approximately 10 grams of Contrast Colour (CC) (19 metres/20yards)

Hook 4.5mm
Size
Approximately 6-12 month

Gauge

After round 4 is completed the sole of the bootie measures approximately 11.5cm (4.75 inches) length, and 6.5cm (2.5 inches) width through the middle.
I worked with pure wool so the shoes have lots of stretch for fitting.

This pattern is written with US terminology.

Round 1

Recommended method – 9 Foundation Half Double Crochet (FHDC) – You will now begin to work on the bottom side of the hdc stitches, working back towards the beginning hdc to form an oval –
3hdc in the same base as last fhdc worked, hdc in each base of next 7 hdc, 3hdc in next base of fhdc (i.e. the 1st  fhdc created) join with ss to top of 1st fhdc. Continue with Rnd 2. (22 hdc)

Alternative method – If you don’t know how to do FHDC then follow this alternative method. Ch 11, working in the top chain loop only, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. You will now begin to work into the other side of the chain loop working back towards the beginning hdc to form an oval – 3hdc in next ch, hdc in next 7 ch, 3hdc in last ch, join with ss to top of 1st hdc. Continue with Rnd 2 (22 hdc)

Pattern Notes:
Ch 2 at beginning of round does not count as stitch. Join with ss to top of first hdc of each round.

Laces. You can use ribbon or icord as laces. I made two chains approximately 45 cm (18inches) long unstretched.

Weave in all ends.

Weave the lace under first trc and continue to weave in and out of the rest of the trc stitches. Repeat for other bootie.
