Learn How to do Filet Crochet with this Easy Beanie Pattern
Full of rainbow swirly, curly goodness, this hat is sure to make you smile. It’s all about fun, colour, and brightening up dreary winter days.
The pattern uses filet crochet technique to create a curved pattern on the hat which you later use to weave in the colourful threads, giving the hat a swirly rainbow effect. It’s a very simple pattern and is suitable for beginners. Once you get the first few rounds complete, you should be able to pick up how the pattern is created – it’s quite intuitive – and is a fun fast project to complete.

Pattern Notes
Pattern is written in US terminology.
The beanie is worked in the round, top-to-bottom
Join each round with a ss. Unless otherwise stated, replace the first dc of each round with a no-turning dc or alternatively add a ch2 at the beginning of each round. This ch2 does not count as stitch.
Notes on Round 1
The chain method is recommended in Round 1 as it creates a little hole at the top of the hat. Normally, you don’t want this hole on your hat for aesthetic reasons however, this little opening is useful for weaving the curls later. Therefore only use the magic circle technique if you want to have a plain hat with no curls on top.

Aran (10 ply) yarn (8wpi)
You can alternate hook size and yarn weight as long as you establish gauge.
